Who We Are
TUVUKE Initiative is a consortium of 15 civil society organizations who came together to contribute to a peaceful and fair electoral process in Kenya. The initiative is currently hosted by Kenya Women Holding (KWH).
Vision
A peaceful and fair electoral process in Kenya
Mission
To contribute to peaceful and fair electoral process in Kenya by increasing knowledge and skills and enhancing the participation of Women and youth in the electoral process.
Pillars
The Tuvuke Initiative is anchored around the following pillars:
- Constitutionalism: Enhance constitutionalism through the national values and principles of governance which include human dignity, equity, social justice, inclusiveness, equality, human rights, non-discrimination, and protection of the marginalized.
- Gender and Power: Contribute in ensuring that the 2017 elections comply with the Constitution and that the electoral process is compliant with the Article 81 (b) of the Constitution.
- Responsible journalism: Inculcate professionalism in and entrench conflict sensitive journalism for election reporting.
- Culture of tolerance: Build a culture of tolerance and acceptance of difference in order to avoid violent conflicts before, during and after general elections
