Margret Munalitsi was born and brought up in Bumari village, Shamakhokho ward of Vihiga county. The widowed mother of six is married in Masudzu village, Shamakhokho ward of Hamisi constituency. Margret is perturbed by the problems that residents of Shamakhokho ward go through hence the motivation to contest and correct the situation. Her vision is to bring social economic development to the people of Shamakhokho ward.
In 201, she contested the MPs position in Hamisi county and lost but got an appointment to serve as the deputy administrator in Hamisi sub county and as the ECDE Director in Vihiga county.
Margret has served the community as a career teacher for over four decades in various school namely: Buyangu, Erusu, Musudzu girls and Wodanga primary schools before shifting to administrative roles where she served as an inspector of schools in the former Vihiga district today Vihiga county and as a programs officer in Hamisi district. As a career educationist, she’s been able to initiate a program in training children and teachers in early childhood education to go for diploma training. Since 2002 to date she’s been able to train over 3,000 students for certificate courses and over 7,000 students for diploma courses from Western Kenya and beyond. She also founded a school known as Glory Star Academy in Vihiga. She also serves as the chairperson of Kisasi Secondary school where during her tenure academic standards have improved and the school’s general infrastructural development has also improved tremendously.
She also serves as the chairperson of Tirimas Women Group since 2005 to date. The group started small doing merry go rounds then to table banking and today is involved in local development issues and social issues such as supporting widows, orphans and other vulnerable people in the society.
