Profile Description

Josefrida was born in Kianzabe location, Matungulu sub-county in Machakos county in a family of seven members. During school she held different leadership positions like being a head girl and later a clerk after school. This has motivated her to leadership as she believes she has gained enough experience and leadership skills to enable her represent her people in the county assembly and bring development in Matungulu north ward. Her vision is to empower women and youths groups economically.

Josefrida has empowered many youths and women groups such as Kayatta youth group, Youth group from Ngunga Catholic Church and Kumbu young mothers self help group through table banking and organizing them to buy water tanks for each other in a merry go round. She has also been involved in organizing ten Harambees to raise school fees to bright and needy children in the community. Josefrida has also helped many youths and women to start their own businesses and are now getting incomes. She has been working with institute of culture and ecology (ICE) to educate and train local people on how to grow traditional drought resistance crops like millet and cassavas. Many women are now farming these crops and using them to feed their families and selling the surplus to get income to support their families hence raised standards of living.

Development Agenda:  


In Matungulu North ward there are many children who have dropped out of school because most parents don’t value education. Josefrida as the MCA will play a key role in raising awareness in the community on the constitutional rights of every child to access free and quality education. She will also work with Nyumba kumi to ensure all parents have taken their children to school for a better future of the society.

 Youths and women Empowerment

The potential in the youth and women of Matungulu North ward has not yet been fully exploited to capacity. When she gets elected, she will empower women through table banking and connecting them with institutions to fund their projects and businesses. Youth will also benefit from uwezo and youth fund to start their own businesses and projects. Youth will be engaged in renovation and clearing of the feeder roads through kazi kwa vijana initiative meant to provide our youths with jobs. Through these initiatives youth and women will be actively engaged in income generating activities which will improve their living standards.

Equal Distribution of Resources. 

One of the major challenges facing every region is unfair distribution of resources by the county government which is greatly contributed by high corruption levels of leaders. Stella plans to mobilize other members of county assembly to move a motion on equitable distribution of resources in the wards.
