Janet was born and raised in Wandumbi village of Nyeri county in a family of five. The mother of four lives with her family in Subukia ward, Subukia constituency of Nakuru county. She attended Wandumbi Primary School and Naromoru Girls High School before joining Moi University where she graduated with a BA degree in Education. She is also a holder of a Master’s degree in Public Health. She borrows her motivation to gun for an elective position from personal experiences whereby she has first-hand experienced water and infrastructural problems in Subukia where she lives hence she envisions bringing economic, social and political development to the people of Subukia ward.
Janet currently serves as a nominated MCA under the Jubilee party at the Nakuru County Assembly. At the assembly, she serves as the vice chairperson in the Committee of Early Childhood and Vocational Training. Under this committee, they have been able to pass the early childhood and vocational training bill and the village polytechnics and vocational training centres bill in Nakuru county where an annual budget of Ksh110 million goes towards upgrading and setting up of polytechnics and ECD classrooms.
She also sits on the County Agriculture Committee where they have managed to provide farmers in the agriculturally rich county with subsidized fertilizers, avocado seedlings, financing aqua farmers and setting up of milk cooling plants in various cooperatives across the county. She also sits on the ICT committee where they have been able to establish digital villages in Subukia and Kuresoi South Sub Counties.
Janet also worked for close to a decade professionally for the TSC as a high school teacher in various schools across the country before venturing into politics.
Subukia ward residents have faced water problems for a long time where they have been forced to walk long distances in search of the commodity. Janet purposes to set up water treatment plants along the permanent water bodies and pipe the water to the residents for domestic use.
Subukia is an agriculturally productive area that produces lots of farm produce but the farmers do not have proper markets for their produce thus they still languish in poverty. Janet intends to encourage farmers to establish cooperatives that will help them market their produce and do value addition on products so that they can earn a living out of farming.
Residents of Subukia ward to access health services because it lacks health facilities with the few that exists being bedevilled with the problem of staff shortage and drugs. Janet intends to ensure that more health facilities are constructed across the ward and the existing ones are upgraded. She also purposes to ensure that more medical personnel are deployed to the facilities and the facilities are well stocked with drugs.
